Ecological Value Creation
What we shape today will have an impact tomorrow.
We approach products holistically from the outset – from the selection of materials to the end of their lifecycle. Our goal is to conserve resources, reduce emissions and keep materials in circulation. To achieve this, we continuously develop our processes and work closely with our partners. In this way, we combine longevity and ecological responsibility in every product.
50% less CO₂ by 2030.
We are pursuing a clear goal: by 2030, we aim to reduce our CO₂ emissions by 50% – measured against the base year 2019 and in relation to our turnover. The basis for this is an annual CO₂ balance sheet prepared in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), which takes into account both direct and indirect emissions throughout the entire value chain.
The greatest lever for CO₂ reduction is increasing the proportion of sustainable products. A central contribution is the transition of the fibre mix from conventional to recycled and bio-based materials. In addition, we are increasing the use of innovative dyeing processes, raising the proportion of renewable energy used by our producers and material suppliers, and reducing emission-intensive transport routes – in particular air freight. In parallel, we are also implementing measures at our company premises, such as the use of renewable energy and an incentive scheme to encourage climate-friendly commuting for our employees.

Avoiding harmful substances. Minimising risks.
As part of our chemical management, as a bluesign system partner we apply strict chemical limits that go beyond statutory requirements. Schöffel has been working with bluesign technologies ag since the end of 2013. The bluesign system provides us as a partner with a comprehensive and well-founded framework to continuously develop our chemical management in the interests of people and the environment.
In doing so, bluesign defines very strict limits for chemicals, which we as a system partner pass on to our producers and suppliers in a binding manner via our own Restricted Substances List (RSL). The RSL covers both completely prohibited substances and substances whose use is clearly regulated by maximum values and which may not be used in the production of our clothing. In our Schöffel SPORT products, we refrain from the active use of PFAS (more information on our PFAS page).
Out of respect for animals.
We also take responsibility when it comes to the use of animal-derived materials. We work exclusively with certified standards such as the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), which ensures that down comes from responsible sources and that animal welfare is respected. In addition, we set ourselves clear goals for the future:
by 2030, we will only source wool from suppliers who demonstrably meet high animal welfare standards. Transparency plays a central role for Schöffel – we communicate openly about the origin and the conditions under which animal-derived materials are obtained, in order to raise awareness of animal welfare.
